• Bland Diet Instructions

  This handout provides instructions on how to feed a bland diet and then transition your pet from a bland diet back to its regular diet.

• Blastomycosis in Dogs

  Dogs appear to be more susceptible to blastomycosis than many other species. The blastomycosis fungus targets the respiratory tract, although it may spread throughout the entire body. Cytology and/or histopathology are required to diagnose blastomycosis conclusively.

• Bloat-Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus in Dogs

  Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus (GDV) is a life threatening disorder most commonly seen in large, deep-chested dogs. In its early stage, the stomach fills with gas, causing a simple gastric dilatation or bloat. Sometimes, the condition progresses no further than a bloat.

• Blood Feathers in Birds

  A blood feather or pin feather is a new feather growing on a bird. Blood feathers are a normal part of feather maturation. When feathers first erupt from the skin, they contain blood. Injury to the feather as it grows may cause the blood feather to become broken, causing blood loss that may require emergency treatment.

  A transfusion reaction is an adverse response by the body to a blood transfusion. The clinical signs and treatment protocols both vary based on the type of reaction.
